What are locks?
A lock is hair that is twisted or woven together which forms an
interlocking or matting process. The hair cannot be combed or disturbed during its maturity or it will never progress.

Can chemically treated hair become locked?
Depending on what technique is used. If you want Traditional locks the hair must be free of chemicals; but with Sisterlocks™ the hair can be locked as long as you have 1" or 2" inches of new growth. The hair will go through a transition stage
similar to an individual that is considering going natural.

How long does it take the hair to lock?
It can take up to a year to lock depending on the texture of the hair and the commitment of maintenance by a trained natural hair consultant.

What products can be used on my locks?
Locks are meant to be clean; many people feel that beeswax, sticky products, and gooey products make the hair lock. That is
not true, it will only make your hair look unsightly and make the process take even longer. Traditional locks can use a product that makes the locks stronger and shine, such as products with moisture. Sisterlocks.tm is all natural and only shampooing and moisturizing is considered for this process. Your consultant should be able to retail any products needed for your locks.

How long after starting the locking process can the hair be shampooed?
First it really depends on which locks you chose for your hair. If you have Traditional Locks you must have you hair shampooed at least once a month. If you consider Sisterlocks™ the hair can be shampooed as often as you like as long as you bundle. For finer textured hair I recommend it be shampooed by your Sisterlock™ consultant until you get in you settling in stage.

How long should I get my locks maintained and groomed?
It depends on the growth of the hair; locks can be re-twisted or retightened every three to six weeks.

Can you comb locks out if you no longer want them?
Yes you can though it is a tedious process and can be very costly. It is recommended that you take careful consideration in going through the locking process so you can not be faced with
this decision.

How much does the lock service cost?
It depends on which locking technique is considered. Please view my Gallery to find which locking technique you are considering. For further information it is also wise to consider a consultation before you make a decision and for a good quote.
